TravelDator event design

Hi All

I've been working on the design for the 1st Patchworks event 'Traveldator'. I met with Ophelia and Linette yesterday and we came up with some pretty nice ideas on how to keep an interesting theme consistent from invite to tea party. After a long discussion the theme for the event has partially drifted away from the Jetsons theme. Instead we're aiming towards a more industrial/mass production theme (going off Ed's idea of the snack boxes) I felt that doesn't really fit into Jetsons but instead we can treat the travelator like a factory conveyor belt.

So to form consistent branding of the event we've decided to go with a raw cardboard look. Boxes!

The invitations will be printed on raw cardboard/brown paper and we'll stencil the graphics onto the A0 posters to have at the event.

Apologies for my rough sketches of the event. This idea was based on a toy factory... I think the scattered toys may be a bit cutesy so we could go for cans of stuff like soup, vegetables to give the packaging feel.

The name tags will be printed onto the brown card also - The boys will be numbers and the girls letters. We will also print the branding logo underneath.

I feel we need staff members inbetween each couple. The couples will be 40m apart and there will be a staff member 20m from each couple. I think it'll create visual interest if they hold up or carry a laser cut piece of card (a candelabra cut out) which makes it fun and playful. It breaks up the stark-ness of the travelator by adding interest along and it will assist in timing the couples.

the after party will be in the park. We thought of using old packing crates as low tables with picnic blankets in between. We will use the positives from the candelabra signs on the tables and all the food and drinks will be pagaged individually into boxes - like Ed suggested and it fits with the theme.

We will brand the boxes with the logo of the event and when they open it the patchworks logo will become visible under the lid.

they're the ideas so far - feel free to comment

Cheers

  1. I think they are great ideas, well done guys. It will definately involve alot of prep work to make it happen. I will organise a schedule tonight to see if it is achievable in the time we have.
Does anybody have access to cardboard boxes + packing crates? or do you know how much these will cost to hire?
