more possible ideas...?

Hey guys, I was speaking to a photographer friend and letting him what we are doing. He gave me another suggestion in terms of Making Money...

We will take pro photos and sell the photos afterward. In terms of the couples that are attending and in terms of getting event.. selling photos as in professional.

My friend has his photographer business so maybe it is legally possible? through him? that means hes got an ABN etc for it as well:

Photography has a lot of legal issues involved since everyone wants to make money out of nothing. There's just a few legal issues involved including:

    1. Letting the patrons know that they'll be photographed and be put on commercial sites or used for commercial purposes. You could probably put this on a terms and conditions of entry sort of thing.

    2. Permits - are we allowed to take photos on the site? And what are the photos being used for? Places such as Cockatoo Island or Botanic gardens, for example, require permits or permissions to allow photography to take place and for their final intended usage such as commercial or personal usage. Since a lot of this stuff is commercial, permissions are generally more expensive. However, some places such as Barangaroo docks can let you hire out the whole place, so long as you ask for permission and you have public liability insurance. As a student project you should be able to obtain some sort of public liability insurance from UTS.

    3. Copyrights and other bs. Basically stealing photos without permission is bad. Make sure you have all the terms of use and distribution agreed on before releasing any photos. Photographers are a sensitive bunch and they can tell their buddies to blacklist certain groups...

    Anyway, onto selling photos.
Dating, clubbing, events... everyone likes photos from the night. Some people are happy with low resolution watermarked images to post up on facebook. Others like a print without any logos and some might want a digital copy so they can print themselves. I'd suggest using Smugmug to host, display and distribute photos. At U$20 a month or U$150 a year, you can set prices for prints and digital downloads and all printing and shipping is handled by smugmug. Basically it simplifies the whole process of selling and distributing photos to people while still protecting any work.

    Cheers

  2. Sounds interesting but I can't see people wanting to buy professional portraits of someone they just met. Could be useful for the future events maybe?
