Design Team Ideas?

Hey, I hope the design team is coming along with great ideas. I have an idea i thought of if any of you are interested.
With the table design, a lot of people have been designing table in the conventional manner. Ie.hard surface, and having the table on a horizontal axis.
What if, (the new ways) of using table is through distortion?
Ie. Instead having solid materials, what if the surface of the table is unexpected? a specific is solid while another might be fluid, soft or whatever.
Another way of having new ideas of how a table can be used or accommodate different uses if we should consider more than ways people interact with the table. A different direction to ergonomics of people and space through the use of tables?
Ie. If we are studying, what can the table consist other than a pencilcase holder etc? can it be people writing on a soft surface with other functions?
This might not make much sense, maybe i can elaborate on it on Friday?
