hey all,
With missing out on discussion on Friday when i first recieved the email i was abit lost. How do we get away from furniture design and into architecture. This is my possible solution.
Lets create a maze? an Architecture table maze. A maze where space can be controlled. im thinking big not a single table so to say but still one form? Tables can be blocked off depending on program using clean cut edging. For example a wedding reception may cater for a maximum capacity of 500 people with 100 TABLES. we dont always need these 100 tables, so spaces at the reception centre are blocked, tables pulled away.
Our table maze will do just this but as a single form where the tables themselves block each other out. its not what the table does but how the table is controlled in correspondance to program. what tables will be used for seating? what tables will be used for bars? what tables will be used for reception space? what tables will be used for gaming needs? all these different programs require different height. correct? so this is where our maze gets its height from. with tables such as the dinner table being used more often then a gaming table our maze starts creating area space through this analogy.
Have a think about it guys. im still trying to get my head wrapt around it to be honest but with the right precedents im sure ill manage to convey as much as my idea as possible tomorrow. looking forward to it :)
Anastasia
