The Table as Programatic Architecture

A few sketchy ideas on how the table can be augmented and accessorised with panels, dividers, textures etc to take on a new form of program and use.

Think of the multitude of different configurations and additions (or subtractions) to the the table which can be made to influence new forms of program- be creative and think outside the box- the following examples below are very basic.

Researching tables and their uses (different programs ie. the drawing board which tilts, industries ie. workshop cutting table, cultures ie. japanese low tatami table) and the different events which are held with a table (dinner party etc)...the design possibilities and iterations are endless.

The concept of the 'table as programmatic architecture' provides a clear defined brief with the key constraint being the 'table'. We can all iterate and innovate the design of the 'table' such that it can create or redefine existing program, so that it can occur within a mobile and compact space.

Please share your ideas, images and any interesting websites you may come across.
